Fun family time

The best thing about Aspen Grove is that we can spend as much or as little time with our families as we want to. They have lots of great activities, and our children go with their age groups every morning and every afternoon while we choose whatever we want to do, thus making it a true vacation for everyone. Thursday morning Dave went from sport to sport with all the guys while I hung out in the craft center with the girls making a bead necklace. Then we picked up our kids and went to the cafeteria for lunch. That's the other great thing about Aspen Grove - they take care of all the food prep and clean-up for us. That's always the most complicated, time-consuming aspect of big family get-togethers.

After lunch we had free time with our kids before the afternoon activities started, so we played miniature golf.

Dallin gets the ball in any way he can. He may not have the best form, but at least he was having fun.

After dinner and family pictures, we all got together at the lodge to visit. We had 79 people there - my grandpa, his 4 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. And of course it wouldn't be a Wight family get-together without singing Two Blue Pigeons with Grandpa.

Then we headed over to the big field for a Western party. There were train rides,
air-soft BB gun target shooting,

playing in the amazing Western Village/playground,

panning for gold,

watermelon-eating contest,

Victory! Afterwards Tyler said, "That was the first eating contest I've ever won!" He has such a big throat that I don't think it's the last.

face-painting and snow cones. They also had campfire stories, leather branding souvenirs and lots of games.
The kids had a blast and weren't ready for it to be over. I just love the view of the mountains all around us.
