We had fun dying eggs the day before Easter.
Levi was totally fascinated.
My kids love to wear wristbands long after whatever the event was that required them. So far they've all had these on for 3 weeks.
Dallin always likes mid-eating pictures.
No major spills. Which is impressive, considering Levi got onto the table and crawled over to a cup and plopped an egg in faster that we could stop him. 
On our last day we went to Boomers in Santa Maria. Since Brennan and Levi were too young, we left them home with a friend. 
Our favorite thing there was definitely the go carts. The boys were all too short to drive, so they took turns riding with us. It was my first time, and I loved it!
We got there right when it opened. There was no one else there, so we had the place to ourself for awhile.
We should have done the little kid go carts first, because after the real ones, these were pretty pathetic and slow.
We played 18 holes of miniature golf. Everyone was starving by this point, so we left to eat lunch at Red Lobster. They LOVE that place. And restaurants are so much easier with just 3 kids.
Luckily no one got too wet, because it was a little breezy and chilly.
They wanted to buy something for Brennan and Levi with their tickets, but of course everything cost way more than they had. Then a couple of nice girls gave us all their tickets - over 2,000! They said they just had fun playing the games and didn't want to buy anything. So we got slinkies and lollipops, and there was still enough for everyone to get cotton candy.
Next they all climbed the rock wall.
After the bookstore I passed out gum as we walked over to Bubblegum Ally. I don't think Dave was with us the other times we'd been there, and he was pretty grossed out. We couldn't stay long, because Brennan kept getting too close to the walls.
Of course you have to put gum on the walls when you go there. It's a rule.
I have a picture of me and Dave sitting on this same well after we got married. It rained on our wedding day, so we came here later to take outdoor wedding pictures.
Afterwards we went to my parents' house for lunch. Then we tried to put Levi down for a nap, but my mom said he never did fall asleep. Pill.
The main thing we wanted to do in SLO was swim at Sinsheimer pool, which was open for recreational swim during spring break. It's huge, and the kids love the diving boards. I'm not a big pool person, but this is by far my favorite pool to go to.
That's mostly because of the toddler/therapy pool. I found this picture online, and it's not very good. The little pool (which is actually quite big) starts at 1' and goes up to 4' with 3 roped off sections and shade over the middle section. But the best part of all is that it's heated to 80 degrees! It feels so good, and I never want to get out. It was actually warm enough for Dave, who likes pools even less than I do because he always thinks they're too cold. 
Afterwards we went back to my parents' house to change clothes and order pizza from Nucci's, my favorite pizza place. Then we went to Madonna Inn for dessert. The boys have been wanting to go back ever since my sister Emily took them there last year and Tyler had to stay home sick. Ironically, they seated us in a booth that says "Sutter Mill." That's the actual town we were going to stay in for our gold country vacation! Crazy. Of course the boys had to check out the men's bathrooms, which are famous. They have big rustic rock walls to pee on. I didn't go in this time, since it was kinda crowded. They also wanted to see the pink dining room. The food's okay, but mostly it's just a fun place to visit.
We had a last minute change of plans over spring break. Dave took a few days off work, and we were going to go up to gold country near Sacramento. I've been wanting to go there ever since my parents went last year and I read an article about it in Family Fun. But we decided the day before we left that it wasn't a good time because some of the things we wanted to do are only available on weekends. Plus we couldn't take Levi down into the gold mines because he's too young, so one of us would have to miss that too. So we ended up cancelling all our reservations and doing a "staycation" instead. We listed all the things around here we love to do or have always wanted to do, and we planned out each day.
In order to make this feel like a real vacation, we pretended like we were out of town. Dave set up the tent in the backyard, and the boys slept out there every night. We left first thing in the morning and went to Bob's Big Boy for the breakfast buffet. In fact we ate at a restaurant 1-2 times every day! It was wonderful. Heck, we were saving all that hotel money, so we really lived it up.
After breakfast we headed down to the embarcadero and went to the Shell Shop, where Spencer bought a shark tooth necklace.
Then we went over to the bay and watched this sea otter eat his breakfast.
I don't care if they are pests that have all but wiped out the abalone population, they are stinkin' cute. We don't see them here too often, so this was a lot of fun.
Next we drove over to the Harbor Patrol dock and watched a seal.
Levi loves birds, and there were lots for him to go nuts over.
Then we went over to the bike path and rode scooters and roller blades.
Mostly I walked slowly with Levi and took pictures.
Then we put the scooters away and unloaded the kayaks.
They did races around the buoys. 
Levi did amazingly well for missing his nap every day. 
After they were done kayaking they climbed around the rocks and cliffs. 
And Spencer can't go to the beach without finding some kind of sea animal. 
Brennan had no interest in going out in the kayak, but he had fun pulling them out of the water.
We had a late lunch at Giovanni's. We used an online "double take" deal where you spend, say, $10 and get $20 worth of food at a local restaurant; it's at http://www.couponclipper.com/. Then we got salt water taffy and parked on the ocean side of the rock. There's nothing like eating taffy and watching the waves - it's become a bit of a tradition. When we came home we had a campfire in the backyard and roasted hot dogs, snake bread and marshmallows for s'mores.
