Scout Camp 2017: Camp Chawanakee

Tyler and Dallin went to Camp Chawanakee together this year. They combined with the other Paso ward and had awesome leaders. I got all these amazing pictures from Aaron Keep.

All packed and ready to go!

Welcome to camp!

Tyler found a little toad while brushing his teeth. I was happy to see tooth brushing happened! You never know with camp.

Dallin got the archery merit badge.

Tyler just did it for fun.

Boring book work, but at least they get to do it in a beautiful place!

The second night there, they did the Canoe Outpost. They canoed across the lake to spend the night under the stars. This was an optional activity which the boys signed up for because they always love it. The leaders were like, "Wait, what are we doing?!" They didn't get much sleep that night, especially because there was a thunderstorm!

I love this picture!

They had the whole beach all to themselves to watch the sunset and hit a huge log like a drum and sing at the top of their lungs.

Luckily they all survived the night and canoed back to camp in time for breakfast.

The only merit badge Tyler needed was swimming, so he did that, art and COPE. He had a pretty chill week!

Dallin especially enjoyed the rowing merit badge.

Tyler was one of the older boys there. It was a great group of boys.

They had a brand new dining hall, which was way better than before.

Tachi was the name of their camp.

They got to retire an old flag one night.

It's a great place for mountain boarding. I think this was the last time they got to use our board before it broke. Bummer.

They painted this super cool picture of Tacchi for their camp.

Everyone helped, but it was mostly Tyler.

They loved it so much. They brought it home, and now it's in their room.

What a bunch of tough Indian warriors!

Tyler at COPE.

Tyler especially liked the zip line!

Dallin got the rifle shooting merit badge. Tyler joined him during free time.

These two shared a tent. I'm glad they get along so well!

Someone bought Pik-Niks from the snack shop. Then everyone fell in love with them and they bought more and ate them the whole time. Then they went on sale the last day, and people bought tons and ate them the whole way home! I don't think they've eaten any since.

Packing up camp the last day.

Good-bye Camp Chawanakee! And thank you leaders for putting up with this crazy group all week!
