Gilroy Gardens

Dave realized that all his time off work this summer has been spent with the older boys, camping, hiking and whitewater rafting. So he took a random Monday off to spend with the younger kids. We went to Gilroy Gardens while Spencer and Tyler were at band camp. Dallin and I had already been there (we went with Spencer, Tyler and Peter a few years ago), but it was the first time for everyone else.

The train ride around any park is always one of Chloe's favorite. We did that first.

And of course you gotta do the carousel!

I almost didn't see Brennan back there!

Gilroy is the garlic capital of the world, so the teacup-type ride is made of garlic heads. In fact most of the rides there are fruit and vegetable- themed: banana, strawberries, etc.

It wasn't very crowded at all, and the only ride we really needed to wait in long line for was the paddle boats.  But it was worth it!

The rides are all pretty low key. There are a couple of faster "roller-coaster" type rides, but I didn't get any pictures of them.

The park started out as a botanical garden; but it didn't make a lot of money, so they added rides to bring people in. There are cool trees all over. My friend Nancy, an avid gardener, is the one who first told us about this place.

There is a small but growing water park section, so they wore their swimming suits. That's where all the people were - it was super crowded! We didn't spend a lot of time there, but it felt good to cool off. They really liked this waterfall for cooling off too.

Chloe loved the Ferris wheel! and Levi is standing under another funky tree.

It was a really fun day! Afterwards we stopped at Pieology for dinner; everyone loved it.
