Art Festival

Last Saturday was our town's art festival downtown. We always look forward to this, but we almost didn't go this year. Levi had been sick all week with a fever and pink eye, but he was feeling a lot better.

We got there super early, because Spencer had a hockey game at noon. The festival started at 10, and we got there around 9:30. This was AWESOME because we got a great parking spot and it wasn't crowded yet. All the booths were set up, and we had fun walking around and looking at all the great art.

Our favorites: trying out the flutes and watching a lady spin alpaca yarn. The artists were super friendly.

They made this lovely design with the May pole. Afterwards they told me they didn't really get the point.

They always love the instrument petting zoo.

Last year Tyler noticed their violins didn't have any rosin, so this year he was prepared and took some from home. He loved showing little kids how to play.

Unfortunately, Brennan got sick the next day. He had a fever for 5 days straight. It ended up being Strep throat, and he missed the whole week of school. Thank goodness for Penicillin!

We love how they have so many free activities for kids. These huge foam shapes were new this year.

They had concerts and dances all day - we especially liked the Cal Poly Chinese dragons!

The dragons walked around afterwards and interacted with the kids.

Levi put one thing on his hat and was done. The other boys sat at the table decorating for quite some time.

After Dave and Spencer left to go to hockey, the rest of us stayed a little longer. The kids wanted to check the progress of the big sand castle, and it was CRAZY there. Remember the first picture I took with just the sand sculptor? That was at the very beginning of the day, and it was now overrun by little people.

I love Chloe's red, white and blue outfit. One of her favorite songs right now is "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," so she always wants to wear this shirt. She enjoyed playing in one of the little sandboxes set up in the street. It was hard to pull everyone away, but I was so done. There were swarms of cars circling around looking for a place to park when we left. Early is the way to go!!
