Whirlwind Halloween

The day after we got back from Hawaii was the church Halloween party, so we had to have all the costumes ready before we left. Spencer and Tyler signed up to run one of the booths at the party, so they had to have everything ready for that too. They did Minute to Win It with 4 different games. The most popular one was Nerf Gun target shooting.

Spencer and Tyler both knew what they wanted to be for a full year. They were super easy costumes.

Spencer and Tyler had fun taking artistic pictures.

Dallin's costume took the most amount of time - he's a bellhop monkey. I don't know where that came from, but he thought it was funny. It was pretty cheap - I just had to get a little bit of red and brown material. I used cardboard in the hat and ears to make them stiff. We already had brown pants and a brown shirt, so I sewed a tail on the pants and made a red vest. I made most of it before we went to Hawaii, but I was glue-gunning the gold trim to the hat and vest just minutes before the party.

Chloe loved wearing her Minnie Mouse costume! Whenever we put it on her she danced around and showed everyone how pretty she was. I bought her dress online (super cheap), and I had to alter it a bit because it was too big.

She was especially excited about her sparkly shoes - I got those and her mouse ears at a 2nd hand store.

Levi wore three different costumes this year - a lion for his preschool party, Captain America for the church party, and an astronaut (which he wore last year) on Halloween. Brennan decided he should be a Christmas elf when he looked in the mirror one day and discovered that his ears stuck out like an elf. Of course we all knew that, but we had never mentioned it to him. I loved all the jingle bells!

Chloe took her ears off right after this and refused to wear them the rest of the time.  But that's okay - at least she wore them for the pictures.

It felt like we squeezed a week's worth of Halloween activities into 2 days. The only time we had for carving pumpkins was between school and dinner on Halloween day. I suggested not doing it this year, but that didn't go over well.

Spencer had his piano lesson that day too, so he had even less time to carve his pumpkin. It's a good thing he's always the first one done. Tyler and Dallin continued to work the whole time he was gone.

I made deviled eyeballs for dinner

And witch finger breadsticks.

Spencer and Tyler went trick-or-treating together and got way too much candy. The rest of us trick-or-treated to my parents' house and back. Dallin wasn't ready to be done when we were, so he met up with the older boys for another half an hour.

 Here's Spencer's organized loot.

It doesn't get any better than this.
