Tyler turned 14 back in April. The main thing he wanted for his birthday was for the whole family to go to the Melodrama. My parents had recently gone and said it was one of their favorite shows they'd seen there! That sounded great, so we went! We left Chloe home with her cousins, and it was Levi's first time to go. The show was called Thirty-Nine Steps, and it was really funny. Everyone loved it! The Vaudeville Review was especially funny this time too.
Tyler's not a big cake person, so he requested an eclair cake. It has a layer of crust, pudding, Cool Whip and chocolate. Yum! And very easy.
His favorite gift was a bunch of magnet balls. I actually ordered it for him for Christmas, but it arrived a couple weeks late. I had to get something else last minute and I wrote and complained to the company; they sent me another set for free. They have been a huge hit!
It's amazing that something so simple can be so fun. They play with them all the time!
Strawberry shortcake, his favorite!!
Tyler is such a character! He loves any excuse to dress up, so he really gets into spirit week at school. This is 80's Day.
Tacky Tourist Tuesday.
Work-out Wednesday. Peter and Dallin were nervous when they didn't see other people dressed up, but Tyler didn't care at all. He owned it!
Backwards Day.
And finally, Disney Day. These three characters made a great team in middle school this year!
Tyler likes doing all kinds of art, making videos (these are from the gangster movie he made with his brothers and cousins), running long distance (he was in track this spring), playing the violin and saxophone, riding roller coasters, doing impersonations, playing Chess, wearing fun hats, hiking, rock climbing and camping. He is always upbeat and positive and calmly helps me when I get stressed out. He's just so much fun to be around!
His favorite teacher in middle school was Mr. Donaldson, who taught him history in 6th and 7th grade and ran the Chess and History Clubs. Tyler even won 3rd place in a recent Chess Tournament! Now that he's 14, he can go to dances and youth conference at church as well as the high adventure backpacking trip this summer. Then on to high school!!
