It's great to be 8!

Brennan turned 8 the day after Thanksgiving. We gave him a Minion friend party the week before his birthday, so it wouldn't interfere with Thanksgiving break. These were very easy cupcakes to make!

I saw these on Pinterest and thought they were dang cute. They were easy to make, too. I didn't even need to buy anything.

I made the pinata too. It was very simple - cardboard and duct tape with purple tulle hair.

This was such a fun/easy theme. All I had to do was put goggle eyes (which I found online) on yellow stuff. Here are the treat bags.

Chloe especially liked the "caterpillar" Cheetos.

I always have a fear that no one will be able to come to our parties. But almost everyone we invited came! I think there were 17 kids here (including our 6).

It was a very sturdy pinata, which is good because there were lots of people who wanted to hit it.

My neighbor caught this one of the candy spilling out! (The party was right after Dave and the boys came home from ice hockey)

We shot off a confetti cannon, which is always a hit.

Great gift! You can see all the confetti on the floor.

It was a beautiful day, and people had fun doing the zip line and swings.

Then they played Twister until it was time to go. I really didn't plan many games (I figured it would be too crazy with 17 kids), but I didn't need to. They all had a great time!

Brennan requested monkey bread for his birthday breakfast.

His favorite gift was a loom to make potholders.               The tabletop hockey game is fun too.
He can do it for hours!

The best thing about turning 8 is getting baptized! Brennan was so excited. My sister Jen gave the talk about the Holy Ghost, since she was visiting for Thanksgiving. Chloe really wanted to get in the picture too.

Then of course he got to start Cub Scouts. His first activity was a Christmas party, and last week was his first den meeting with just the Wolves. Eight is a GREAT age! Here are 8 things about Brennan:

1. He loves math, and he helps the other kids at his table when they're not getting it.
2. He loves to go boogie boarding.
3. He has become an amazing rock climber! Six months ago he couldn't get more than 5 feet off the ground. Now he gets to the top almost every time!
4. He loves to ride his bike, especially off road.
5. He has started playing ice hockey, and he looks forward to it all week.
6. He is enjoying school much more now that he is taking medicine for his ADD. In fact it has improved many aspects of his life. Yay, modern medicine!
7. He learned to tie his shoes.
8. He loves hot, spicy food. He wants chips and salsa every day after school.

How fun! I find that parties are easier once you have a theme. Thanks for sharing.
