Aspen Grove, Cont.

Friday morning before breakfast, Dave and the boys went fishing in the pond.

Here's my oldest nephew Christopher helping Tyler.

We saw tons of fish in there, but they were smart little fishies. They ate our bait without getting caught.

After we dropped all the kids off at their classes, eleven of us (some of my brothers and sisters and their spouses), drove a couple miles down the road to Sundance Ski Resort. We rode the ski lift up to the top of the mountain.
Several of us girls mentioned how much more enjoyable the ride was not having to stress about skiing off at the top, while the guys were wishing we were skiing.

Here's the beautiful view from the top.

Then we hiked the 3 miles down. I was happy we let the ski lift do the hard part (up) while we did the easy part (down). It really is the best way to hike.

We hiked past the same waterfall we could see from Aspen Grove.

The Sundance people warned us there would be "two small river crossings," but they didn't mention there would be lots of loud rushing water in those super steep rivers.
Dave and my brother Josh planted their feet in the water and helped us all across. I had soggy stockings and prune feet by the end.
Here's the waterfall, up close. Yes, we had to cross this river also. By this point we realized we were cutting it too close to pick up all our kids for lunch. So we called my brother-in-law Troy, who had to stay behind with a sick child, and asked him to pick them up for us. Then Dave and Nathan ran the rest of the way down to get back in time to help pick up the kiddos. Towards the end of the hike it started to hail. Luckily Dave had put an umbrella in my backpack. By the time we got to the cafeteria there was thunder, lightning and lots of rain. It was all very exciting. We just sat there all soggy, not wanting to leave. Luckily it cleared up enough for the kids to go to their afternoon classes. Even though it had stopped raining, it was pretty dang chilly. So we did indoor activities all afternoon, like pool, air hockey, ping pong and electronic rock climbing. Actually I just sat and watched/visited.
Here's my newest niece, Rachel. My sister Maryruth had her by c-section just 2 weeks earlier (what a trooper!), and I got to hold her while her mommy ate dinner. At one point Dallin said, "Mom, there are so many cute babies here, it makes me want our baby out!"
